TEAK (TECTONA GRANDIS)

Teak (Tectona), is a
genus of tropical hardwood trees in the mint family, Lamiaceae.
Teak is a type of high-quality timber producing trees.
Large tree, straight-trunked, it can grow as tall as 30-40 m.
Large-leaved, the whole in the dry season. Teak is known the
world with a teak (English). This name comes from
the word thekku (തേക്ക്) in Malayalam, the language in the state
of Kerala in southern India. Teak is the scientific name
for Tectona grandis L.f. Teak (Tectona grandis sp.)
Can grow giant for hundreds of years with a height of 40-45
meters and a diameter of 1.8 to 2.4 meters. However, the average
teak tree reaches a height of 9-11 meters in diameter from 0.9
to 1.5 meters. Teak tree is a tree which is considered either a
large diameter ring, straight-trunked, and little branches. It
is used in the manufacture of outdoor furniture, boat decks, and
other articles where weather resistance is desired. It is also
used for indoor flooring and as a veneer for indoor furnishings.
